Meals on Wheels should use Prams?

In the Associated press, dated July 1st, 2008 a story emerged about Ruth M Jones, a 81 yr old Charleston W.VA. widow who can’t walk or drive since a car wreck 9 yrs ago.
Why this elderly woman is in the news is because she doesn’t know what she’d do without hot meals being delivered to her door. Ms. Jones relies on her social Security check to cover the rising costs of food and utilities.
Because of the rising cost of gas, across the country nearly 60% of the estimated 5,000 programs that belong to the Meals on Wheels Association of America have lost volunteers who can’t afford the gas.

Is this a new problem?

The answer is no as is seen on a YouTube video that is on the blog.

When I wrote that story on July 2nd, I was appalled but still able to be somewhat objective until I talked to a friend who lives in the United States.

Here is a man who worked his whole life, contributed to his country, his home and family and through no fault of his own, suffered a health problem. Now he has to choose whether to eat or have his medications. Meals on Wheels is not an option to this man, there is none where he lives!

Now I am truly APPALLED!
